Smart Production Systems Modelling Laboratory

The Smart Production Systems Modelling Laboratory is located at the CENWIS Research and Development Center of the Kielce University of Technology.

The Laboratory supports the development and implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies and applications including IIoT, continuous online monitoring (Web, VR, AR), computer simulation and analysis of machines and process performance data (digital twinning); cognitive computations.

Key equipment is the Cyber-Physical Factory by Festo: a universal cyber-physical training and research platform developed as changeable and reconfigurable assembly system. It is “factory in a lab” that reflects the new paradigm of Industry 4.0 concept implemented with the latest standards in automation and control.

  1. Module 1: automatic pallet storage and retrieval system.
  2. Module 2: robot assembly cell.
  3. Module 3: visual inspection Application (AI approach).
  4. Module 4: assembly press and tunnel heating.
  5. Module 5: warehouse application (stack dispensing).PERFOMANCE
  6. AGV: Robotino

Modularity

Each module is designed as sections of the production line with a uniform mechatronic structure, allowing flexible production line configuration according to different topology variants.

Smart intralogistics with AGV

Mobile Robot Robotino 4 with Fleet Management software is used to ensure internal logistics with a separate production module operating in the "island" mode (transport between modules 3 and 5)

RFID

RFID technology is applied for the automatic identification of product flows at every stage of production in order to track the location of transport pallets, progress in the implementation of production orders, analyze the production process.

MES 4.0

Dedicated Manufacturing Execution System used to control machines, devices and control systems with the use of network infrastructure for data transmission and control.

Energy monitoring

Mobile Robot Robotino 4 with Fleet Management software is used to ensure internal logistics with a separate production module operating in the "island" mode (transport between modules 3 and 5)

Digital Twining

Computer modelling and 3D simulation software CIRROS Studio with an implemented library of objects representing individual production modules; integrated with the MES system via OPC UA. The simulation can be run in the MES mode using virtual reality with VR goggles.
